Kenneth Rolando Deras, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 18, in the 700 block of Washington Boulevard in Montebello, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner’s office, said Deras was shot at 10:32 p.m. outside of 7-Eleven. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:52 p.m.

Deras’ preliminary coroner report shows he sustained a gushot wound to the chest.

Investigators believe the killing may have been gang-related, though no other information was available.

I've read a good lot of your posts over the past few months. Let me say this, fellow Bruin to Bruin (I read you went to UCLA, me too) I just think you go a wee bit overboard. Trust me, I in NO WAY wholeheartedly support the LAPD, in fact, I believe a good bunch of them are corrupt, power hungry, and practice racial profiling/social status discrimination constantly. But your posts seem to border on a grandiose conspiracy theory, and if it's one thing I can't stand, it's conspiracy theories. A majority of cops are mean, yes, but they are not all murderers. In fact, a few of them are pretty good. Look up Officer Deon Johnson who patrols Skid Row. He is out there trying to help those less fortunate have a better life. I suggest you go on a ride-along like I did, see what they have to deal with. If they are good cops, you'll see all they are trying to do is help their neighborhood. I agree on many things you post though, such as if the victim was unarmed and police kill him anyway, THAT is wrong. But I just get irked when someone of your intelligence falls into a conspiracy theory pattern.
