Latanya Johnson, 24

Latanya Johnson, a 24-year-old black woman, was shot and killed in the 200 block of West 94th Street in Broadway-Manchester on Dec. 11, 1988.

In 1989, Rickey Ross, at the time a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, was charged in connection with the murders of Johnson and two other women.

Those charges were later dropped when an outside ballistics expert disputed the initial report that his weapon had been used in the killings. All three cases remain open.
