Lorne Alexander Goree, 30
Lorne Goree, a 30-year-old black man, died Tuesday, May 10, after he was shot the day before in the 1300 block of East 118th Street in Willowbrook, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
The shooting occurred shortly before noon on May 9 as Goree was walking with his uncle in George Washington Carver Park, about a block from where he grew up, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.
Two men in a dark-colored vehicle pulled up on East 118th Street and fired at Goree, Mendoza said. The car then drove east and out of view, he said.
Goree was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where he was pronounced dead at 8 o'clock the following evening, with a gunshot wound to the head and upper torso, according to coroner's records.
Neither Goree nor his uncle had any gang ties, Mendoza said, and investigators don’t have any information about the attackers or a motive for the shooting.
