A story for every victim

Magali Alberto, 28

Magali Alberto, a 28-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Sunday, April 26, in the 1600 block of West Manchester Avenue in Gramercy Park, according to Los Angeles County Medical-Examiner Coroner’s records.

About 12:20 a.m., patrol officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Division responded to a call of shots fired in the area.

When police arrived, a person directed them to a red Dodge Challenger stopped with the engine running, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido. Inside, police found Alberto unconscious.

Police believe that Alberto was stopped at the intersection of Manchester and Denker avenues when another vehicle with three people inside pulled alongside the Dodge and a person began shooting, police said in a news release.

The vehicle, described only as a sedan, fled south on Denker Avenue.

Police said Alberto was a single mother and a project manager who was on her way home from a small family birthday party. Authorities have made an arrest in the killing, and were to announce details May 28.
