North Hills man pleads no contest to manslaughter in killing of roommate
A North Hills man pleaded no contest June 14 to manslaughter in the the death of his roommate, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Mario Rene Villalobos, 58, and Cassandra Marcella Olsen-Silagyi, 48, had lived together for about a month.
According to prosecutors, police discovered Olsen-Silagyi’s body May 1, 2015, after receiving a phone tip from someone whom Villalobos had asked to help dispose of a body. Prosecutors said Villalobos had been trying to evict Olsen-Silagyi before she was killed.
He is scheduled to return to court June 30 and faces a maximum sentence of 11 years.
