I met Marlon when he was 10 years old in Sacramento, California. I was in a relationship with his cousin. His murder crushed a lot of people. He was planning on leaving L.A. and taking his family to St Louis. We had come to Southern California for Valentine's. We hung with Marlon, his lady, their 9 month old daughter, and other family members. It was a wonderful time. 5 days later as I'm preparing for my graveyard shift my girlfriend's cousin gets the call and time stood still. It stopped! He was on the floor crying out "No, no, no!" We come in his room and she asked "What's wrong?" He said "Marlon got killed!" She immediately hit the floor sobbing. I can't use profanity but you can guess the mood at the same time. See, when we left L.A. on the 14th, she wanted to bring him and his family with us back to Sacramento. I told her we could turn around, swoop them up and bring them. She said we would see them next time. 5 days later...there was no more seeing him later except at his funeral. Marlon Mack Grundy, Jr. was a good man. For him to be murdered in broad daylight and it was caught on someone's home surveillance...I truly hope his killer and accessories after the fact have been caught, tried, and convicted. To the lady who tried to comfort him as he pound his fist on the ground repeating "...my daughter...my daugther..." thank you! To the people of Los Angeles and around the world, your murderous ways affect more people than you think or don't think. Let's get it together before there's no one else on this big ball of clay we call earth. Rest in Heaven Marlon Mack Grundy, Jr. Shot 5 times at 6:15 p.m. Died at 6:18 p.m. February 19th 2006. I'll never forget.
