Martha Carmona, 21 [Updated]
Martha Carmona, a 21-year-old Latina, died Friday, May 14, in the 6900 block of Remmet Avenue in Canoga Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Los Angeles firefighters received a call of a stabbing about 1:15 p.m. and found the bodies of Carmona and her daughter, Valerie Camacho, a 6-year-old Latina initially identified by coroner's officials as Jane Doe #30, authorities said.
Valerie's name had been withheld until coroner's investigators could speak with her father, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.
Carmona and the girl were pronounced dead at the scene, said LAPD Officer Gregory Baek.
"Each had knife wounds," Baek said.
Police said Friday night that after interviewing the husband, the case remains wide open. No suspect or motive has been determined so far in the killings.
