Marvin Walter Williams, 64

Marvin Williams, a 64-year-old white man, was fatally shot Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the 200 block of East Arbor Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Williams was gunned down shortly before 7 p.m., the Long Beach Police Department said.

Officers found Williams with a wound to the torso. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

At least 198 homicides have been reported in Long Beach since January 2007, according to the Times Homicide Report database.

Detectives did not know why Williams was shot and were hoping to generate leads from the public, the department said.
