Man sentenced in killing of 6-year-old

A Los Angeles man was sentenced Dec. 15, 2009, to state prison for the killing of his ex-girlfriend’s son, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Marcas Catrell Fisher, 36, was sentenced to 25 years to life for the beating death of Dae’von Bailey on July 23, 2009, in the 800 block of East 87th Place in Green Meadows, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Fisher pleaded guilty in November 2009 to the first-degree murder of the 6-year-old. According to Deputy Dist. Atty. Marilyn Seymour, Fisher became upset with Dae’von and beat him for more than half an hour.

Fisher, who had two prior convictions, one for sexual battery and one for burglary, eluded police for almost a month before being arrested on Aug. 19, 2009, in North Las Vegas.
