Mohamed Ali Hussein, 21

Mohamed Hussein, a 21-year-old black man, died Sunday, Aug. 28, after he was stabbed near West 6th and South Alvarado streets in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., Hussein was walking near the Metro Red Line station in the area when he was confronted by another man, chased, then stabbed, said Los Angeles police Det. Ray Martinez.

Police are unsure of the reasons for the attack, which is not believed to be gang-related.

Hussein, a native of New York state, was pronounced dead early the next morning at a hospital.

Humberto Morales, a 29-year-old Latino, was charged Aug. 30 with one count of murder, according to court records.

Morales is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 24, Los Angeles County prosecutors said.
