Orlando Ortega, 31, a Latino man, died of a gunshot wound at Sweetzer and Willoughby avenues in West Hollywood on Tuesday, May 29. His time of death was listed as 11:54 p.m.

Ortega was found lying in the street after neighbors heard gunfire. Detectives were left with little to go on. Anyone with information is asked to call sheriff's homicide at (323) 890-5500.

I too, am proud to have been a friend of Orlando's and still think about him often. This case has gone unsolved, very little information has been given to the public, and it appears that Orlando's murderer will never be caught. I called the police investigator that was handling Orlando's case a few months ago to see if there was any new information or updates. I left 3 messages on his answering machine but have never received a callback. How many other missed messages haven't been returned by him or his department, any one of them could've been an important lead or other information that might have helped solve this case.
Orlando deserves much better than this and it is pathetic that this is how his case has been handled. Orlando, we will find who did this to you one day, for you and your family.
