Pete Richard Cordero, a 35-year-old Latino, died Sunday, Nov. 22, after he was shot in the 5000 block of Raphael Street in Highland Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Los Angeles Police Department officers went to the area about 2 a.m. after receiving a report about shots fired, according to a department news release. They found Cordero behind the wheel of his car with multiple gunshot wounds.

Cordero was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:05 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Investigators believe the shooting is gang-related, said LAPD Northeast Homicide Division Det. Martee Miyakawa, but they don't have any suspect information.

"All we have is radio calls from people who heard shots fired," Miyakawa said.

Cordero's white Toyota Tundra was parked on the street, near his home, but investigators don't know why he was in his car, she said.

Growing up in the barrio aint easy espeacially when influenced to the life stlye that surrounds us as premature young men we make choices we think are the right ones not knowing the affect those choices cause. As the years pass and we mature from a little room far away over seeing the bay many suns rise and set and many moons and stars shine we learn that the choices we made were the wrong choices to make. For 16 years Replaying the visions of what life would be if the right choices were made so many tears would not be shed and the ones we love would not of said why why does this have to happen. We try to change but we cant so give back as much as we can trying to lead and change the minds of young children so they dont fall back to the same footsteps that we all look back wishing we could change and turn back the clock. So lets live right stop the fight love each other hug the ones you love tell them something special,do something special for that is all we i got to say as i continue to replay the visions of the choices i once made.
