Ramiro Chavez, 18

Ramiro Chavez, an 18-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 14, in the 500 block of Weber Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Authorities responded to a call of shots fired about 12:44 a.m., according to a Pomona Police Department news release. When officers arrived at the location, they found Chavez suffering from several gunshot wounds.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department was called, and Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

People in the area said they saw a blue van at the time of the shooting. Soon after, officers spotted a similar vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Astro Van, heading east on Holt Avenue and stopped the occupants.

Witnesses to the shooting identified the van and the three occupants as the assailants in the shooting, according to police.

Miguel Ayala, a 20-year-old Latino, and Jose Alfredo Rojas-Martinez, a 23-year-old Latino, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The third suspect, a juvenile Latino, was also arrested on suspicion of murder. Authorities did not provide his name or age because he is a minor.
