Raymond Anthony Camberos, 19

Raymond Camberos, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, March 11, in the 100 block of West Mines Avenue in Montebello, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Montebello police officers responded to a report of shots fired about 7:16 p.m., according to a department news release.

When officers arrived, they found Camberos lying on the sidewalk on the north side of Mines Avenue. He was treated by Montebello Fire Department paramedics but died at the scene at 7:40 p.m., according to Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office.

Authorities believe Camberos was shot after an altercation in the basketball court area of Reggie Rodriguez Park. The case appears to be gang-related, police said.

Detectives  have obtained descriptions of three people who may have been involved in the shooting: a 17- to 20-year-old Latino, 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches, weighing 120 to 135 pounds, clean-shaven with black cropped hair, medium complexion, wearing a blue or dark-colored jacket zipped up; a 17- to 20-year-old Latino,  5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches, 110 to 125 pounds, clean-shaven with black cropped hair, medium complexion and wearing a dark sweatshirt with hood and dark pants; and an 18- to 25-year-old Latino, 5 feet, 9 inches to 6 feet, 140 to 160 pounds, with black cropped hair, light complexion and wearing a T-shirt with black and white checkers pants.
