Ricardo Molina, a 28-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, May 14, in the 4400 block of East Tuttle Street in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Molina was found suffering from several gunshot wounds about 9:40 p.m., said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office. He was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he died at 10:18 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Winter did not have any additional information about the incident.

The Times will provide more information about the incident as soon as it becomes available.

[Update May 19: Molina was standing on a sidewalk when a car drove up and someone inside the vehicle shot at him, said sheriff’s homicide Det. Troy Ewing, who is handling the investigation.

Ewing said authorities do not know whether the shooter was the driver or a passenger. They also did not have a description of the vehicle.

Ewing said Molina was a known gang member, but said it was not clear if the individual or individuals involved in his shooting are also involved in a gang.
