Ronzell Lane, a 20-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Sept. 9, in the 9100 block of South Western Avenue in Gramercy Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Authorities received a 911 call at 8:21 p.m. reporting that shots had been fired, said LAPD 77th Street Homicide Det. Sam Arnold, who is handling the investigation.

When police arrived, they found Lane sitting in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle in a parking lot. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, Arnold said.

Arnold said he was unable to provide a description of the possible shooter or shooters because investigators were still working on the case.

No arrests had been made in connection with Lane's death, he said. Investigators were still trying to determine whether the shooting was gang-related.

Was Ronzell a gangbanger? If so could someone please tell me why everyone on this blog is in shock, and saying gone too soon. I men what is the expectancy of life when you are an gangbanger? (If that was the case) This reported cool thug life that one tends to think is so great doesn't appear to be what it is all cracked up to be. If you are a gangbanger the only 2 things will happen, death or jail, if they didnt care about living or dying respect his wishes and don't ask for justice. No one has to be a gangbanger. For me I pretty much do not have much sympathy for them because they tend to kill people who have a better quality of life, you know people who love life and are not hurting anyone. So when you are grieving I am pretty much confused. If he is a willing participant in gang violence it is only fitting that he becomes an everyday target for retaliation and karma. So all of those people that say you are in a better place?, why should he be? If he wreaked havoc on society, why does he deserve to be in a better place? This world is a better place without him if that was his choice in life to be a gangbanger. And miss me with the only God can judge me saying, it's not scripture. If you love these lovedones so much, try and do your best to get them out of the gang lifestyle that they choose. Otherwise, this right here is the end result.

@ Chris. I agree with you statement 100%. Im not a "banger" and proud that I was able to make it outta that enviroment. When I spoke of "OUTSIDERS" I was speaking in "their" terms. And to be honest when you live in those areas like 90's hood as i did you in a way have no choice BUT to respect your surroundings and who comes through. I had to be smart. When I was out I had my head on a swivel. Its sad but true. Even if you dont bang. you have to at times think as if you did bc no tellin what the next guy you walk by or drives past you may be thinking. You may be as innocent as a saint but some fools around there dont care and will get you if you arent smart about your actions. Its very sad that people have to live their lives like this. Its affected me to the point to where Im paranoid in a whole other state in a city where banging is NO WHERE near like LA. but i kid u not every time i see things that remind me of the LA banging lifestyle I get real alert. whether it may be someone wearing a lil too much blue, red or a certain hat or driving a certain type of car or whatever the case may be my thought processes go back to survival mode. LA in certain areas is not the buissness

Wow all of these young Black men dying before the age of 21!
These young men haven't been around long enough to leave their inprint on the world yet, let alone in someones life!
Some come from messed up childhoods, and by the time they turn 18, 19, or 20 their just starting to realized they don't have to be a product of their environment.
What happened to black pride, where we as black people would show love for one another, not throw slugs at each other?
I'm glad I'm old now, these young dudes out here are ruthless, I remember a time when a diss was settled by fists, you mite get knocked down by you were able to get up, you mite get kick but you were able to dust yourself off!
With this gun play, nobody win.
One dude is dead, and the other will be in jail for rest of his/her life.
Mr. Lane I hate that and all the young men of L.A are dying so young.
