Ruben Fematt, a 48-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, June 18, in the 1200 block of North Sanford Avenue in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Fematt was in the alley behind his home about 1:50 a.m. when an attacker walked up and opened fire, according to Los Angeles police.
Authorities were called, and Fematt was taken to a hospital, where he died at 2:30 a.m.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
At least 49 homicides have been reported in Wilmington since January 2007, according to the Los Angeles Times' Homicide Report database.
Nearly all the victims were slain by gunfire, the database shows.
