Rudolfo Alarcon, 20
Rudolfo Alarcon, a 20-year-old Latino, was fatally wounded Saturday July 6, in the 600 block of West 127th Street in Harbor Gateway, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.
Shortly after 11 p.m., officers went to an apartment building where an argument escalated to a stabbing and a shooting at a baptism party, police said.
The incident began when party guests showed up with two uninvited gang members, said Sgt. W. Lin of the LAPD’s Southeast Division.
The gang members’ girlfriends got into a fight and “at some point, someone pulled a knife on someone.”
After the stabbing, a gun was fired and four victims were taken to a hospital.
Alarcon, who was hit by gunshots, was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m. A man in his late 20s was in stable condition, and a girl who is believed to be about 17 was grazed by a bullet.
Another young man was stabbed twice.
Police arrested Raul Garay, 31, in connection with the incident the next day. He pleaded not guilty to one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder July 9, Jean Guccione, a spokeswoman with the L.A. County district attorney's office, said.
He is due in court July 25.
He is being held in lieu of $6-million bail.
