Ryan James Helm, 36

Ryan Helm, a 36-year-old white man, was shot and killed Sunday, May 30, in the 1000 block of Cherry Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police responded to a call reporting gunfire about 4:08 a.m. and found Helm suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

Helm was taken by paramedics to a local hospital where he died at 4:53 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Investigators had no information about the assailant, and a motive for the shooting remains unknown.

Well it was gang related, just not in the way that syscom3 dude thought.

The partyers continued drinking until 4:00 a.m., when Moye went outside for fresh air. Appellant was already outside.

A young man, later identified as Ryan Helm (Helm), was skateboarding down the street. Appellant stopped him, pushed him and tried to pull something out of Helm’s pockets. Helm resisted, trying to defend himself. The two men began to punch each other. Appellant grabbed for his revolver, but Helm, who was pushing appellant away, slapped the gun out of his hand and onto the ground, as the two men continued fighting. Helm was getting the best of the fight.

Moye ran inside to get Cooks to break up the fight. Cooks came outside, and saw appellant pointing his gun at Helm and stepped between them to separate them. It looked to Cooks as if appellant was robbing the man. Cooks saw Helm with a knife in his hand after the gun was pointed at him. At some point after the combatants separated, Helm put his hands in the air and said, “For real, homie, are you serious” or “Come on man.” Appellant said either, “Insane Crip,” “on Insane Crip,” or “No, cuz I am Insane Crip,” as he ran to pick up the revolver. He then chased Helm with the revolver as Helm was walking away, trying to gather his belongings, and fired three or four shots at Helm. After shooting Helm, appellant ran back to Moye’s house, but no one would allow him in.

another regular poster here. ive been reading this report since day one. many of us DO NOT enjoys syscoms posts. there might be one person who does, but for the most part he is always getting blasted on here. he posts a bunch of speculation, silly proclamations and garbage generalizations. with him, it always has to be the victims fault that they were killed. always.

we may never know the full story of what happened to this guy, but to make something up, including alleged meth use and drug dealers or gangs, is desrespectful and unacceptable to decent people/posters like myself.

To have to defend Ryan in death seems absolutely preposterous to me. If I could please appeal to whatever sense of decency you have left syscom3, for a moment. As a child my father was taken from me in one swift life altering act of brutality. If you have no personal experience with this type of loss I implore you to cease with your ghoulish comments. I understand that they are primarily fear-based. I assure you I have no gang affiliation I am an educated woman and a business owner. I am also Ryans ex-girlfriend. We spent over 4 years together and I assure you Ryan was more than a productive citizen he was a working-class hero to myself and many others. He assisted his friends in finding employment getting off of drugs, he was always available! Coincidently we were both clean and sober. Im sorry to invalidate all of your gruesome theories but the truth is Ryan was at the wrong place at the wrong time, just like you might be one day.

I am Ryans Dad and my Son is gone from all of us. To all of you who cared and loved Ryan thank you all very much. Amanda I am so sorry I never got back to you with the viewing information. It all happened so fast it was just a blurr. No excuse it was all my numbness but I never should made such a stupid mistake like that. You are the mother of Ryans Daughter/ my grandaughter. Please accept my apology.You are family. I have one comment I feel I must leave to you syscom punk. If you didn't know Ryan keep your friggin mouth shut & keep your comments to yourself. Or maybe you would like to meet for a small additude adjustment.You seem to be far too stupid to have any compassion for those he left behind to deal with idiots as yourself. maaan oh man...I was right across the street from the super market on Cherry that Thursday....That T-Shirt he was wearing on his Face Book Shot...could be mistakin for a Long Beach Gang---that is closely affiliated with the SOS Crip gang...Suicidal Tendencies is a name of a Gang of punk rocker white boys/and samoan and black crips from bacc in the late 80's...early 90's...but
