Skye Lynn Gutierrez, an 18-year-old Latina, died Friday, Nov. 22, after she was shot in the 1500 block of South Point View Street in Mid-City, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Gutierrez was standing with a man in the area when two men walked up and a fight began, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sean Kinchla.

During the altercation, Gutierrez was struck by gunfire. The man she was with was not injured, Kinchla said.

The two assailants, described only as Latinos, fled.

Police believe the shooting was the result of a personal dispute and is an isolated incident.

My name is Jesse. I attended Alhambra High with Skye's mom, "Blyss". I know her mommie by her school name. I havent seen Blyss in years but followed her and commented on her pictures, online. I sent Blyss hearts below her family pictures to let Blyss know, I was thinking of her, remembeeing her and other friends from our high school. I was shocked, when I read and saw the painful pictures and situation, which took Skye's, young life. I cried, i was vefy distraught, upset, wanting to kniw how something like this could happen to Skye snd her family. She's an angel. I never met Skye but followed her mommy's online account to send them hearts and to show that i care. My tears are rolling again now for Blyss, Skye, her daddy and for their loved ones. She's in heaven. I have nothing but live, friendship and support for Skye, Blyss and their loved ones. I have 2 daughters. I want many more. The love a parent has for our children, knows no boundaries. They are gifts. Skye was a gift to everyone around her. She's an angel in heaven, watching over her family and her friends and playing with her neice in clouds, holding hands. I never met you Skye. I knew your mommy, who was at my home, many times. I have nothing but love for you, for Blyss and family, beautiful, talented Skye. My Hernandez family sends you love and heartfelt sympathy. I met Skye 9th grade in my P.E class about five years ago. One of my best-friends named Aleyah and she knew Skye from middle school. When she saw Skye they rekindled and she introduced Skye to myself. She was a little shy, but it did not take long for us to get used to each other. She was very outgoing and always joked around with us. I would look forward to P.E because my two best friends were in it and now i had Skye. Myself and Skye were the athletic ones, so we would always be one the same team if we were able to. After 10th grade Skye left our school and i was sad. I wouldn’t hear from here for long periods of time, until one of my other friend would bring her up. So after that I did not really talk to her much cause she was on the go. Lol. Fast forward to a couple months ago. I saw that Skye had been posting on her snapchat and I decided to hit my girl up. Our conversation was short but it was nice to talk to my friend. Then not long after that, to a couple weeks ago, I hear from my friend that my girl has been shot. I also lost another good friend of mine from middle school, Kamryn Stone, to the same crime in September. After hearing this, I immediately wanted to bust into tears. I did not know much of the situation, but it hurts because we are so young. She was in critical condition at this point and would tear up here and there. But we all needed to be strong for Skye, regardless the outcome. I would get the updates from my friend that also was close to Skye. I would pray every time I thought about her. I would tell her to, “be strong and fight as long as u can. If you can’t fight anymore then thats ok as well, just don’t be scared. Go to the light”. Then my friend told me she was looking better on November 21, so I was getting excited. I was happy that she could make it out of this, even though she would never be the same again. Until the next day when I got the worst news of her passing. I cried for about an hour, then I went with some friends to try and feel better about the situation. It killed me that she had passed away and I posted some things in her memory. Im so sorry to miss Blyss and her father for this horrible reality they have to face. Now I go on her mother’s Facebook to stay updated and see all her memories with Skye. She posted this beautiful cover that Skye and her father sang together. The song had so much to do with what was going on, it just brought me to tears and I just cried. Her voice was so beautiful and I wish she did more with it. I miss my Skye so much and I can’t imagine what her family is going through. All my prayers are going to her family and all of us (her friends). We need to stay strong for Skye and keep her memory alive. I love you mamas. Watch over me and ill see you when I see you😉!
