Vicenson Desmond Edwards, 24

Vicenson Edwards, a 24-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Sept. 16, near Pacific Coast Highway and Figueroa Street in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Harbor Area patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 5:50 p.m., according to an LAPD news release. When they arrived at the location, they discovered Edwards in his car. He was shot several times and unresponsive, police said.

Paramedics were called and Edwards was taken to Kaiser Hospital in Harbor City where he was pronounced dead at 8:13 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Investigators believe Edwards was driving his 1994 White Chevy Caprice west on Pacific Coast Highway approaching Figueroa Street when an unknown man driving a white car pulled up next to him.

At that point, police said the suspect in the white car pulled out a gun and shot Edwards numerous times and then drove away. The suspect(s) and car are currently outstanding.

The word on the street wimas didn't do it .....as for driving a caprice...I owned two of em... a dark blue 89 brougham all stock from the orignal owner...and an 87 landau coupe lowrider.....and let me tell you I'm in my late 20s and I grew up when these cars were new and loved them...people tend to buy cars they liked as kids... ie I'm on my 10 vw bug as we speak...and I had two caprices caddies..and other cars...as for my blue 89 caprice brougham....THAT WAS A MAGNET FOR ALL KINDS OF ATTENTION...MOSTLY BANGERS AND THE POLICE...... once I was drivng in my blue 89 caprice down figuerora in south central from vernon all the way down to el segundo to get back to long beach I was being banged on no lie every few blocks guys were throwing up gang signs and stuff...I always got that..and I got stopped by the police mutiple times monthly... for trivial stuff but 9 times outta 10 they cut me loose after they figured out I never been to jail and I work at a high school , 90 percent of the cops who stopped me where polite and professional..so I really didn't mind. It was business as usual as for me and the police ...but I drove in wilmas hood at night in my caprice many times and I'm black and I never got shot....one more thing....at night at a red light most people didn't pull up next to me in my caprice..they stayed back till the light turned green...but the thing is most drive bys don't happen from g rides ( american cars from the 80s till mid 90s) that's a myth to the fullest
