A story for every victim

Vicenson Desmond Edwards, 24

Vicenson Edwards, a 24-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Sept. 16, near Pacific Coast Highway and Figueroa Street in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Harbor Area patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 5:50 p.m., according to an LAPD news release. When they arrived at the location, they discovered Edwards in his car. He was shot several times and unresponsive, police said.

Paramedics were called and Edwards was taken to Kaiser Hospital in Harbor City where he was pronounced dead at 8:13 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Investigators believe Edwards was driving his 1994 White Chevy Caprice west on Pacific Coast Highway approaching Figueroa Street when an unknown man driving a white car pulled up next to him.

At that point, police said the suspect in the white car pulled out a gun and shot Edwards numerous times and then drove away. The suspect(s) and car are currently outstanding.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the shooter is asked to contact Harbor Homicide Det. Brian Gasparian or officer Fernando Rivas at (310) 726-7882. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
