A story for every victim

Yang Yang, 41

Yang Yang, a 41-year-old Asian woman, was beaten to death Tuesday, Nov. 16, in the 1700 block of Batson Avenue in Rowland Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Stanley Wang, Yang's husband, called 911 about 12:30 p.m. to report that his wife had been hurt, said Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

When deputies arrived, they found Yang had suffered blunt-force trauma to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Before her death, Yang was estranged from her husband and had returned to the residence to retrieve some personal items, Saldana said. At that point, the couple reportedly got into a physical altercation.

After the incident, Wang, a 65-year-old man whose race was listed as "other" in jail records, was arrested on suspicion of killing Yang and booked at the sheriff’s Walnut-Diamond Bar station.

He was being held on $1-million bail at the Men's Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles. His next court appearance is scheduled Dec. 17 in Pomona Superior Court.
