Cruz Beltran, 21

Cruz Beltran, a 21-year-old Latino, was fatally wounded on Wednesday, July 10 in the 8500 block of North Columbus Avenue in North Hills, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Beltran, his girlfriend and another man were standing in the foyer of an apartment complex at about 4 a.m. when a man opened fire and called out a gang name, according to an LAPD news release.

Beltran was taken to a hospital where he died at 5:12 a.m., coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said.  No one else was injured.

The shooter is described as a Latino man in his 20s. Police did not have any other details, said LAPD Det. Juan Santa with the Mission Division.
