Dannell Willis, a 21-year-old black man, died from several gunshot wounds on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The shooting occurred in the 2300 block of El Segundo Boulevard in Compton.

It's December 2013 and I'm still heartbroken! You suffered, but you fought an outstanding fight (doctors told us). Let me be the first to tell you, these streets have gotten worst and I know heaven is Peace, Love, Painfree, No Worries and all of us down here wish we was living the life you started living April 1, 2013. I try to strive even harder knowing you're watching over me. I know you're proud of the family, our generation needs prayer nonstop on the daily. I just have one question for you, what was it like to meet the Jesus? I can only imagine! One day I'll be up there. Your death put the family in a bad position, we are mentally, emotionally and spiritually hurt! Holidays aren't even holidays anymore. It's sad how you left. I wish this world was a Peace-Treaty like heaven. You was shot multiple times & during surgeries you had heart attacks...like WHY!?! I'm sorry you went through all of that uncle. I'm 22 yrs old now and I hate to drive down El Segundo Blvd! Keep your heaven-bound family laughing and keep an eye on us! Thanking God for the opportunity of family and love he let us experience with you! Your kids look just like you! Please put a word in with God for me; I need a financial blessing!! Miss you dearly and I'll always love you Poppy!!!!!
