A story for every victim

Dwain George Kaiser, 69

Dwain George Kaiser, a 69-year-old white man, was fatally shot Monday, July 3, in the 170 block of West Second Street in Pomona, according to Los Angele County coroner’s records.

A 17-year-old called Pomona police about midnight saying he had shot his roommate and would be awaiting officers outside, according to Sgt. Brian Hagerty. Officers found the teen outside and took him into custody.

Officers went into the apartment building and found Kaiser upstairs with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:25 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Hagerty said the teen and his mother, as well as Kaiser and his wife, lived together in a three-bedroom apartment. The two families had lived there together for more than 10 years, according to Hagerty.

The teen was arrested as a juvenile on suspicion of murder; his name was not released because of his status as a minor.

Pomona police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the department at (909) 620-2085. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
