Gustavo Manuel Lopez, 29

Gustavo Lopez, a 29-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the 3300 block of Hunter Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Lopez was sitting in his bedroom with a friend about 3:50 p.m. when his brother, Israel Lopez, entered the room and opened fire, authorities said.

Gustavo was hit several times and later pronounced dead at the scene.

His friend, Rafael Aguilar-Rodriquez, a 22-year-old Latino, was also shot and was taken to County USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

LAPD officers responding to the scene found both victims as well as the suspect at the residence.

Israel Lopez, a 25-year-old Latino, was taken into custody without incident and the alleged murder weapon was recovered at the scene, police said.

The alleged assailant is being held on no bail at the Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 26 at the Los Angeles Municipal Court.
