Jonathan Aragon, 29

Jonathan Aragon, a 29-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Tuesday, April 8, in the area of East 4th Street and Soto Street in Boyle Heights, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. 

Los Angeles Police Department patrol officers heard gunshots in the area about 10:25 p.m., according to a LAPD news release. The officers found Aragon with multiple gunshot wounds in his chest, according to the coroner’s office. Paramedics were called, but Aragon was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A man was seen running from the scene, according to the LAPD release, and the officers took chase. 

An LAPD helicopter helped to locate the man and direct officers to his location, according to investigators. He was identified as Roberto Fausto Rodriguez, a 39-year-old Latino. 

When the officers approached Rodriguez, he allegedly began shooting at them and the officers returned fire, investigators said. 

Rodriguez was shot multiple times and killed, according to the coroner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The LAPD has identified four officers who were involved in the shooting as Sergio Gramajo, Michael Nguyen, Hector Almeda and Heriberto Crisantos-Garcia.
