Jorge Alberto Villatoro, 19

Jorge Villatoro, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, July 19, near 18th Street and Bonnie Brae Street in Pico-Union, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Villatoro was in an alley about 9:42 p.m. when he was struck in a drive-by shooting, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called, and Villatoro was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Times is requesting more information from investigators and will provide details as soon as they become available.

I was reading of all the innocent lives that have been taken from US due to violence. The fact is that Pico Union has always been like that. I remember in the early 80"s my mother use throw us in the floor to sleep because 18 was feuding with everyone. The fact is that i never thought that i was going to be one of those who was going to bee doing the same thing others have been doing for years.. I have been shot stabbed and wrongly incarcerated. I went threw the Rampart scandal and im glad that i am alive. The fact is that until Jesus arrives or people open their eyes, hearts and ears nothing will ever change in PIco Union. I know what im talking about because im alive and God himself has delivered me from the inner Hell that i was going threw. I pray that God changes my heart and to continue to due good to show others that people can change.. Much love to all thiose who are still banging and still active on drugs and to those who are incarcerated. I will never ever forget were i come from..God bless all you
