Kavette Watson, 16

Columbus Lanard Campbell, a 39-year-old black man, and Kavette Hashani Watson, a 16-year-old black girl, died in a shooting in the 3400 block of West 63rd Street at 12:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6.

They were shot as they sat in a car, police said. Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot multiple times. His friend, Kavette, also was shot multiple times, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Los Angeles police said the crime appeared to be gang-related, but they had no specific motive. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at the LAPD's 77th Street Division at (213) 485-1383.
