A story for every victim

Kevin White, 44

Kevin White, a 44-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Sept. 23, in the 1600 block of East 114th Street in Watts, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

White was in the front yard of a home about 7:25 p.m. with a 20-year-old woman when at least four men drove by in a minivan, said Los Angeles Police Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera. At least two shooters exited the van, fired multiple rounds and then fled, LaBarbera said.

White was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m., said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she is in stable condition.

The shooting occurred near the Nickerson Gardens housing projects and is believed to be related to a homicide that occurred 10 minutes later.

In that incident, Markice Delshawn Brider, 29, was killed in the 2200 block of East 114th Street.

White was a former Death Row Records artist, known as Flipside.  He was part of a group called O.F.T.B. (Operation from the Bottom), which signed to the record label in the early 1990s, according to AllHipHop.com.
