Lancaster man charged with murder

A 38-year-old Lancaster man was charged May 2, 2014, with one count of murder in connection with the killing of Stephen Lee Finson, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Arturo Lopez also was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon with a prior conviction.  According to the district attorney’s office, Lopez was convicted in 1997 for unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle.

Finson, 47, was shot and killed Feb. 24, 2014, near the 13300 block of East Avenue H in the northeast Antelope Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies found Finson with a gunshot wound near his all-terrain vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:20 a.m., according to Sheriff's Department and coroner's records.

Lopez is expected back in court to be arraigned on May 8.
