Baby Boy Medina

Baby Boy Medina, a Latino fetus, was found dead Friday, July 15, two days after a house fire in the 11600 block of Bromont Avenue in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Authorities were alerted about a fire at a home shortly before 4 p.m. on July 13, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

A man escaped the residence but suffered scrapes and smoke inhalation while trying to battle the flames. He was later treated for his injuries, authorities said.

Inside the house, they found Estrella Medina, a 25-year-old Latina, dead.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said that during the autopsy, it was learned that Medina died from a gunshot wound, not from complications from the fire.

Additionally, it was discovered that Medina was pregnant with a boy. He has since been identified as "Medina baby boy." The coroner's office declined to say how far along the fetus was.

The coroner’s office had no other information about the case.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
