Virginia Villa, a 73-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Wednesday, July 12, in the 128900 block of Wingo Street in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., police were called to a home where they found Villa in a wheelchair with a gunshot wound to her head, said Los Angeles Police Officer Tony Im.
About five feet away, her husband was lying on the couch holding a handgun and suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.
Villa was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:37 a.m.
Villa’s husband, Gilbert Villa, 87, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death was ruled a suicide, according to coroner's records.

Joseph Andrew Quijada Loya Jr., a 35-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, July 5, in the 14000 block of Fox Street near the border between San Fernando and Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:45 a.m., patrol officers from the LAPD’s Mission Division responded to a call of a shooting. When they arrived, they learned that Loya's family members had taken him to a hospital, according to a news release from the department.
Loya was pronounced dead at a hospital at 1:48 a.m., according to coroner's records.
Police believe Loya was “loitering in the street” when a black or dark-colored sedan drove by slowly, east on Fox street, according to the release.

Michelle Marie Malander, a 29-year-old white woman, died Saturday, June 24, after she was stabbed in the 12400 block of Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 11 p.m. June 22, Hector Lopez, a 31-year-old Latino, knocked on his neighbor’s door and asked the resident to call 911 because Malander, his girlfriend since high school, had been hurt, Los Angeles Police Det. Gabriel Bucknell said.
The neighbor walked to the recreational vehicle that Lopez shared with Malander and found her with her hands clenched in a fetal position and bleeding from the left side of her head. Her eyes were open, but she was unresponsive, Bucknell said.
Malander was taken to a hospital, where she remained until she was pronounced dead at 5:35 p.m. June 24, according to coroner’s records.

Jesse Lee Zamora, a 25-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Thursday, Oct. 20, in the 14000 block of Chamberlain Street in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:40 a.m., Zamora was standing next to his vehicle when he was shot, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Peteque.
Police are trying to determined if the assailant walked up to Zamora or shot from a car, Peteque said.
Zamora was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:55 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

G’Teasha Elayne Fisher, a 33-year-old black woman, was fatally shot Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the 12900 block of Desmond Street in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 5 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division went to a home because of a call about an assault with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from the LAPD.
The officers found Fisher, who had been shot, in the living room, said LAPD Det. Dave Peteque. Another person had found her and called police.
Fisher was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:13 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Peteque declined to say what led to the killing but said the woman’s boyfriend, Michael Jerome Parks, a 47-year-old black man, is the primary suspect.

Michael Paul Mendibles, a 41-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, March 3, in the 13000 block of Vaughn Street in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after 10 p.m., Foothill officers responded to a call of shots fired and found Mendibles on the ground with gunshot wounds, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Mendibles was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:20 p.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.
Winter said that Mendibles was riding his bicycle when he was shot.
LAPD Det. Dave Peteque declined to release a suspect description.
“We are actively working on the case,” he said.
Willy Barrios, a 15-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, near Van Nuys Boulevard and Norris Avenue in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 2:20 p.m. officers from the LAPD’s Foothill Division found the teenager on the sidewalk. Barrios had been shot in the head, police said in a statement.
In a motion for a $50,000 reward approved by the City Council, police said Barrios was shot after “a dispute with an unknown suspect or suspects.”
Francisco Javier Alvarez, a 49-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Oct. 18, in Pacoima, on an embankment near the transition of the westbound 118 Freeway and the northbound 5 Freeway, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
The shooting occurred around 11 a.m. near a homeless encampment adjacent to Paxton Park, said Los Angeles Police Department Det. Manuel Armijo.
Alvarez, who lived in the camp, was talking to three other acquaintances that morning who also lived in the camp.
“A dispute came up, the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim multiple times,” Armijo said. “They all knew each other, but the details of the dispute are unknown.”
