A story for every victim

Tommy Buck Whitson, 28

Tommy Whitson, a 28-year-old white man, was stabbed to death Saturday, Oct. 22, in the 1200 block of East 4th Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a call regarding a stabbing about 1:50 a.m., according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

When authorities arrived, they found Whitson and a 28-year-old man, both of Long Beach, with stab wounds to the torso. The two victims were taken to a hospital,  where Whitson was pronounced dead a short time later, officials said.

The second injured man was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Several hours after the incident, authorities arrested a 24-year-old man from Santa Ana in connection with the fatal stabbing.

During the investigation, detectives learned the three men were involved in a verbal altercation in a parking lot when the assailant attacked Whitson and the other victim with a bladed instrument.
