Yancy Darrin Cage, 39

Yancy Cage, a 39-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, April 3, in the 100 block of East 65th Street in South L.A., according to Det. Tommy Thompson of the LAPD Newton Division.

Yancy and his brother Reynaud Cage Jr., a 48-year-old black man, were walking on the street around 1:30 p.m. when they were approached and shot by an unknown assailant, Thompson said.

They were taken to California Hospital, where they both died, Thompson said. Yancy was pronounced dead at 2:04 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Investigators say the shooter was a black man; however they could not provide a further description.
