[Updated at 4:30 p.m., Aug. 12: At the time of his death, Coronado was working as an electrician for Imperial Yard Flood Maintenance, a public works facility.

It's located next door to the Equestrian Center. He rented a room at the center to stay close to work, said public information officer Mike Kaspar.

Coronado had been a public works county employee for the last eight years, Kaspar said.

An e-mail sent to employees by Gail Farber, Los Angeles County's public works director, said “Zack was an outstanding employee and a good electrician, who was well-liked and well-respected by his coworkers. He was known as a family man, dedicated to his five children who were the joy of his life.

This is a sad day for our Public Works family, and I know that all of you will join me in grieving his loss. Our thoughts and hearts go out to his family at this sad time.”]
