Nicholas Robertson, a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed by deputies Saturday, Dec. 12, at 12131 South Long Beach Boulevard in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigators.
The incident started about 10:53 a.m. when the department began receiving 911 calls about a black man yelling and shooting a gun into the air near the corner of Alpine Avenue and Palm Avenue, said Lt. Eddie Hernandez.
The man, later identified as Robertson, continued walking north and then east, with reports coming in about him at Carlin Avenue and North Santa Fe Avenue, before two deputies confronted him about two blocks away, at an Arco Station on South Long Beach Boulevard, near Magnolia Avenue.
The deputies gave Robertson “multiple commands to drop his gun,” Hernandez said.

Edgar Villareal, a 25-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, April 9, after being shot by law enforcement near Across from 4049 Agnes Ave. in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Kenneth Rivera III, a 27-year-old Latino died Thursday, June 21, in the 11500 block of Atlantic Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Lt. Ed Hernandez of the sheriff’s homicide bureau said the incident occurred about noon while deputies responded to the reported kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl.
Hernandez said the 27-year-old man was shot as he put his right hand into his front pocket and charged a deputy who was trying to park her patrol car after arriving first on the scene.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the deputy fired several rounds from her pistol, striking the suspect in the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Hernandez said the officer thought the suspect was armed and feared for her safety. No weapon was found on the suspect.

Johnathan Cuevas, a 20-year-old Latino, was killed by a sheriff's deputy Sunday, Oct. 10, near Long Beach Boulevard and Josephine Street in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The incident occurred about 12:30 a.m. when a lone deputy approached three men. One of the men, later identified by the coroner's office as Johnathan Cuevas, allegedly reached into his waistband as he started to run. Seeing this, the deputy fired several times, striking Cuevas, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Luis Castro.
Cuevas was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A handgun was recovered at the scene, Castro said.

Travion Richard, a 17-year-old black youth, died on Saturday, Sept. 19, after he was shot by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies at 3147 Banning St. in Lynwood, authorities said.
Two deputies from a Sheriff's Department gang enforcement team were driving along Banning St. when they saw Richard, whom they said they saw run from them earlier in the evening.
According to a statement released by the Sheriff's Department, the two deputies "attempted to contact the suspect" when he took a gun out of his waistband and pointed it at the deputies.
According to Los Angeles County coroner's records, the deputies shot Richard, of Long Beach, several times in the arms, chest and back. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
According to the statement, deputies recovered a handgun from the scene.

Guillermo Saucedo, a 23-year-old Latino, was shot several times by deputies and died Friday, August 7, in the 12700 block of Waldorf Drive in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Saucedo allegedly pulled a gun on sheriff’s officials as they were trying to disperse a house party in Lynwood and was shot and killed by deputies, a Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.
Deputies arrived at the house in the 12700 block of Waldorf Drive about 11:30 p.m. and were ushering out guests when the suspect “made a furtive movement and began walking away from the deputies,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
As the deputies tried to catch up to Saucedo, he pulled out a handgun, the statement said.

Alfredo Montalvo, a 29-year-old Latino, died from several gunshot wounds on Monday, April 27, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
The shooting took place in the 11000 block of Santa Fe Avenue in Lynwood.

Abraham Sanchez, a 33-year old Latino man, was fatally shot by a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy from the Century station shortly before midnight Oct. 17, 2008, in the 11600 block of South Atlantic Avenue in Lynwood, according to sheriff's records.
Sanchez, who had been shot in the torso, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead early the next morning.
Detectives investigating the officer-involved shooting reported that two deputies assigned to the Century station had been flagged down by an informant who told them someone was breaking into a nearby business.
Once at the location, investigators said the deputies told them that they found the front window broken. At that point, the deputies said they called for backup, according to a sheriff's report.

Gerardo Arvallo, 32, a Latino man, was shot and killed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's SWAT team about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, in the 3100 block of Los Flores Boulevard in Lynwood.
Deputies from the Century Station responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon about 9 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found Laura Sibiran, 29, a Latina, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Authorities said Arvallo had shot her, then barricaded himself inside her home with their 2-year-old daughter.
Sheriff's SWAT officers were called in. After a few hours, SWAT officers moved in to rescue the child, and shots were fired. Arvallo was fatally shot by a SWAT officer.
Authorities said Sibiran was taken to a local hospital, where she recovered from her gunshot wound.
