Father convicted in drowning death of baby in Pasadena
A jury on Wednesday found a father guilty in the killing of his 1-year-old daughter in 2011, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Marquise Jackson, 26, of Lancaster, was found guilty of first-degree murder, for drowning Mo’Nayjah Jackson, and one count of child abuse.
On May 20, 2011, Pasadena police and paramedics responded to a call of a child not breathing, Lt. Tracey Ibarra said. Efforts to resuscitate the child failed.
"The family said they didn't know what happened. It was considered a suspicious death, and an investigation was initiated," Ibarra said.
Marquise Jackson was later arrested on suspicion of murder. He is scheduled to return to court Aug. 12 for sentencing. He faces up to 25 years in prison.
