Benjamin Alexander Cervantes, a 32-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Saturday, Aug. 17, in the 1400 block of Gloriosa Avenue in Rowland Heights, according to the L.A. County coroner’s office.

Cervantes was involved in an argument with another man about 1:26 a.m. when he was stabbed, according to a news release from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

Cervantes died at a hospital at 2:26 a.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office.

Albert Camacho, 30, was arrested on suspicion of murder the same day, according to a news release.

He is being held on $1-million bail and is due in court Tuesday, Aug. 20, according to online Sheriff’s Department records.

Benny was such an amazing person, I know everyone says that, but he really was. He had an old soul; very polite, ALWAYS making people laugh, said hi to everyone, especially if he didn't know you, was a excellent uncle to all kids, and was a loyal brother from another mother (lol), to all of us. I was fortunate to meet benny 10 yrs ago, at the same time I met my husband actually, he and and my sis in laws have known Ben since he was 13 or so. we even named our 5 y/o after him. Ben was tragically ripped from all of our lives. Life isn't and will never be the same without him. He had so many blood and non blood nieces and nephews that absolutely loved to be around him, that will never get to see there "Uncle Benny" again over unnecessary violence that till this day sickens everyone.... its just unfortunate that the world has lost such a great person. One can only hope that our faulty "justice system" doesn't let another repeatedly violent person walk the streets. as the same violence towards Ben had been displayed only a few months prior, from the suspect.
