Benjamin Juarez, 26

Benjamin Juarez, a 26-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Friday, June 15, in the 15400 block of South Washington in East Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Juarez was sitting in a parked car about 7:49 p.m. when he was shot, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

After the shooting, the assailant fled the scene.

Authorities were called and Juarez was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m.

Several people were detained after the shooting, Winter said, and it appears the incident was gang-related.
