Douglas Jerome Wilson, 37

Douglas Jerome Wilson, a 37-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, June 22, in the 800 block of Chestnut Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Long Beach police officers went to the residential area at 8:35 a.m., after receiving a call about a shooting. They found Wilson in the alley behind the apartment where he lived, with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso, according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department. 

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:51 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

A nearby apartment building was evacuated that morning when a Long Beach SWAT team went into one of the units to look for suspects, said Long Beach Police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

No one was arrested, and no suspect information is available, the news release said.
