Greg Hudson, a 47-year-old black man, died Tuesday, April 24, four months after he was shot in the 500 block of West 65th Street in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

LAPD Criminal Gang and Homicide Det. Young Mun, who is handling the case, said Hudson was shot Dec. 14.

It's believed the alleged assailant was in a car, got out, walked up to Hudson and shot him. After the incident, the shooter got back into the vehicle and fled, officials said.

Hudson was struck several times in the torso. After the incident, he was taken to California Hospital Medical Center where he remained until his death April 24 at 8:21 p.m.

Det. Mun said even though the victim was in and out of a coma, he was able to speak with the initial investigators about the shooting.

The shooter and getaway driver were described as black males. The incident is not believed to be gang-related.

THIS is truly sad, why would someone kill such an innocent man. I would talk to Greg every time I would see him in route to workout at a local park, (we talked about a lot of communities issues, such as gang violence and how stupid it was)...that's why I was extremely stunned when I found out that some animal gunned him down for no reason. THIS MAN DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DERSERVE THIS. LOS ANGELES IS JUST A SICK PLACE THAT WILL NEVER RECOVERY FROM ITS ILLNESS. IT'S TOUGH TO EVEN WALK DOWN THE STREET WITHOUT FEARING THAT SOME IGNORANT PUNK WILL TAKE YOUR LIFE SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY FEEL LIKE IT, OR YOU'RE WEARING THE WRONG COLOR, OR LIVE IN THE WRONG TERRITORY,ETC...WHILE I UNDERSTAND THAT NO WHERE IS 100% SAFE, LA JUST ISN'T THE PLACE TO BE, IN PARTICULAR, THIS GRIMY NHOOD WHERE GREG WAS KILLED. FROM MY EXPERIENCE LIVING OVER THERE. THE CLOWN ASS GANGMEMBERS IN THE AREA GO OUT AND COMMIT CRIMES, THEN OTHER GANGS COME BACK AND SHOOT PEOPLE THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GANG LIFE...I don't know but I can almost guarantee that was the case here...SMH...RIP GREG
