A story for every victim

Johnnie Greenback, 28

Johnnie Greenback, a 28-year-old white man, was shot and killed Sunday, Feb. 8, in the 18000 block of Danielson Street in Santa Clarita, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 5:15 a.m., Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim and found Greenback and his father, a 56-year-old man, wounded in an apartment, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The two were taken to a hospital, where Greenback was pronounced dead at 7:47 a.m. His father is expected to survive.

A semiautomatic handgun was recovered at the scene.

Deputies also arrested a 25-year-old white woman, later identified as Jessica Greenback, on suspicion of murder.

Detectives are determining what led Greenback to allegedly shoot her father and brother.

On Feb. 10, Jessica Greenback was charged with one count of murder, child abuse and false imprisonment by violence. She was also charged with two counts of attempted murder, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said that Greenback lived in an apartment with her brother, Johnnie Greenback, her father and her 5-year-old sister. Greenback allegedly wouldn’t let her sister leave the room where the shooting occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
