Michael Anthony Villar, 26

Michael Anthony Villar, a 26-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Saturday, June 10, in the 1200 block of College View Drive in Monterey Park, according to to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 12:30 a.m., Villar and two other men got into an argument over a parking space outside an apartment complex, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore. 

The argument escalated to a physical fight, Moore said, and Villar was stabbed multiple times. 

Villar was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:19 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Moises Garcia, 57, and his brother, Victor Garcia, 55, were arrested the next day, Moore said. 

On Tuesday, Moises Garcia was charged with murder with the special allegation that he used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, during the commission of the crime. Victor Garcia was charged the with one count each of murder and assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. 

The defendants’ arraignment was continued to July 7 at the Alhambra courthouse. Victor Garcia is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. Moises Garcia’s bail was set at $2.02 million.
