A story for every victim

Moises C. Rodriguez, 26

Moises C. Rodriguez, a 26-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the 11500 block of Sylvan Street in North Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 6 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call about a shooting and found two people, including Rodriguez, suffering from gunshot wounds, said LAPD Det. Dave Peteque.

Rodriguez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m., according to coroner’s records. A 23-year-old man was wounded but is expected to survive.

Moments before the shooting, Rodriguez and two others were hanging out, eating pizza when a person got out of a vehicle and walked up to the group, Peteque said.

The gunman said he was a gang member, made a “derogatory remark” and then began shooting, police said.

The shooter then ran back to the vehicle.

Detectives are trying to identify the vehicle but do not have a description. Neither of the shooting victims had gang affiliations, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Peteque at (818) 374-1934. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
