Ricardo Cabrales, 14
Ricardo Cabrales, a 14-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Aug. 28 in the 16100 block of South Essey Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 4 p.m., Cabrales and another man were standing on the sidewalk in front of a home when a light-colored sedan drove up and a person inside began shooting, said Sgt. Troy Ewing with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Both Cabrales and the other man were wounded. Cabrales was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:11 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The other man is expected to survive, Ewing said.
