Savoy Niece Anderson, 37

Savoy Niece Anderson, a 37-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 27, near Long Beach Avenue and East 14th Street in downtown L.A., according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m., Anderson got into an argument with a man who pulled out a gun and shot him, said LAPD Det. Richard Arciniega. The gunman fled on foot, but it’s unknown in which direction.

A preliminary report suggesting that Anderson had chased down a purse snatcher was erroneous, Arciniega said.

Anderson was pronounced dead at 3:37 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

He was my Son. He called me Pops. He had come into my life when he was fifteen (15). At that time the courts had appointed me his legal guardian, because an Adult had to go to court to pick him up and I was doing a favor for my neighbor, not knowing I would have to sign all these legal documents for him to come home. Well I did, and I d3id not miss any of his court dates and would visit and write all the time. The last time I had picked him up in Victorville he came out to my place in the Valley to help me out, and I had a Gallery in my living room and Savoy was looking at all the pictures and notice the kids pictures and mention to me "all these years and we still apart of your life" and yes they are and will always be. My Family and extention of Family is multitude and extends global around the World because if I Iet you inside you become a part of my being and this road that I must travel brings people into my life that will be apart of my life until the end. Sure he had his struggles with life, and I wish he had come into my life at an earlier age. I had just spoken to him a couple of weeks ago. I remember we were riding in the car and we were just talking; and with tears in his eyes he looked at me and said "I looked up to you like you were a God" which brought tears to my eyes. Can you imagine someone saying that to you? A statement I couldnt never live up to. You never know what influences you have on people or even if their paying attention. He always observed, admist all the pain and heartache he endured in his troubled and abusive childhood; deep inside he had a beautiful and caring heart. If you got close enough to him and he let down his guard, you could see and feel his vulnerability and his sensitive side. It is so important in life to guide our young with Love, Discipline, a strong Spiritual foundation, and the nuturing it takes for them to grew into respectful adults. That saying "It takes A Village" holds true and we as Adults must also be parenting to all of our Young regardless if you are the birth parent or not, when you see that wondering child out there reaching out for Love and guidance and no Parent or Adult is around, it is your responsibility that if you are able. Reach out and pull that child back out of harms way. We are such a self-centered and non-caring Society nowadays we turn the other way. I just buried my Mother in September and my oldest brother a week after. They say "God dosnt put no more on us than we can bare" and Im in a place now I believe with Savoy gone, my cup has runneth over. Stay Prayerful you all, and Savoy I was blessed to have you in my life, you had so much potential and Talent ...you can rest now and not have to fight with yourself and the World no more. I will miss you and know that you were and will Always be Loved and that you were not Alone. I Love You Son and Il keep a light in the window just in case you decide to come Home .....
