Terri Myles, a 33-year-old black woman, was found killed in Jesse Owens Park in the 9600 block of South Western Avenue in Gramercy Park on Nov. 8, 1993.

Michael Hughes was convicted of the murder of Myles and three other women in 1998. A decade later, a cold-hit DNA link tied him to four additional homicides.

Although local authorities gave Myles' age as 33, a state death index indicated she was 27 when she died.

Yesterday I looked the man who killed my aunt Terri in the face for the first time since her death in 1993. It was a hard day...many tears and emotions through the day. I had to watch my mother breakdown and relive all that pain over again as if she just found out. For her I know it was harder because this was her lil sister, the baby of the family, the one she helped raise. We gave them insight about how my aunt really was. How she loved me and my brother so much and came by as often as she could to spend time with us and my mother. She was a dancer in her childhood years and was very good at it. On a regular day though I remember her enjoying sports and being more on the tomboy side, but always full of jokes and laughter no matter what. She was a free spirit and did not let the stress of the world get to her. We had been in search for her children off and on for the past 10yrs but until this trial came back around we were getting nowhere or no help. Well finally yesterday we got some bittersweet news about the two out of the 4 we remember her having. I have a cousin Corey who is in prison for life now and Brittney has lived a street life and is still not located. My cousins had to face their lives alone and without family. Now I look at this monster, this killer in a different light. I thought I would never feel the feeling of hate but right now all I wish for him is death, but not the easy death; the kind of death he put all those women through. See people like him don't understand that their one action changes the lives of so many and in this case he did not just take my aunt from me...he took a mother, sister, aunt and friend while stealing our families joy all in one night. If anyone reads this and has any knowledge of my aunt or her children please reach out to me. I am trying to bring my family back together one day at a time.
