Three charged in 2014 home-invasion robbery

Three men have been charged with killing a 27-year-old man in a 2014 home-invasion robbery, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Reginald Raydell Young, 26; Erin Chase, 19; and Jason West, 27 are facing one count of murder, one count of home-invasion robbery and one count of first-degree burglary, according to prosecutors.  The three are also facing allegations of committing a murder while engaging in a robbery. Young faces a handgun allegation.The three defendants are black.

On June 28, 2014, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of shots fired about 12:50 a.m. at a home and found the garage door partially open. Inside, deputies found Marc Spinner, a white man, shot and wounded in the hallway to the garage. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff’s Det. Louie Aguilera said investigators were able to connect the defendants to the killing through DNA and witness statements. He said that West knew the victim.

The case was filed in January. The three defendants, who have pleaded not guilty, are due back in court for a pretrial hearing April 20.
